Brave GentleMan

Brave GentleMan founder Joshua Katcher is no newbie at the sustainability game. Back in 2008, he founded an ethical lifestyle website for men, The Discerning Brute. A little later, he started designing his own stuff. His label, which was launched in 2010, prides itself on being the first ever vegan lifestyle brand for men.

Katcher travels the world to give lectures about sustainable and ethical fashion, and the man knows what he’s talking about. For his Brave GentleMan footwear, for instance, he opts for artificial leather made in Italy (Future-Leather, as he calls the material). Its basis is a hi-tech, biodegradable PU microfiber that is EU-Ecolabel Certified.

Brave GentleMan garments are made from organic cotton, recycled cotton and recycled polyester, while the buttons are made from the corozo nut. Future-Silk is another one of Katcher’s favourites. He uses this silky fabric, made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, for linings and pocketing in his Autumn/Winter suits, among other things.
